#TeamPleasant

October 18, 2019

It wasn’t their first rodeo… some had rappelled, some had rock climbed, all had done adventurous outdoorsy things in the past. It is just that feeling you get when you are gearing up, standing on top of a 14-story building, peering over the city. That’s when the adrenaline really starts pumping.

Sara, Clinton, Dee, and Ellis representing #TeamPleasant

“Can I do this?” Each person asked themselves.

Each person answered a resounding “Yes!” Story by story they eased themselves down Bliss Towers, peering into the condos of those living in the Bliss Towers, smiling for pictures or a wave. Shout out to Ellis for making the front page of the Canton Repository!

If you’ve followed us on social media, you’ll know that this past Labor Day weekend, Pleasant Wealth took on a challenge to raise $5,000 for Lighthouse Ministries and then rappel over the edge of a 13-story building in Canton. For some of us the fundraising was more enticing, for others the thrill of rappelling was more enticing.

It was fun to challenge other businesses to join the fundraising and rappelling. It was also fun to educate and ask for funds for this program that we have supported for over a decade.   At the end of the day we met and exceeded our goal to total: $5,012 raised.

A big thanks to each of you who supported our efforts via a donation, showing up at the event, or checking in after the event concluded.

So why do we love Lighthouse Ministries?

This is an organization that has bloomed exactly where planted. Where staff live in the neighborhood with the families they serve.  It is an organization that has provided resources and ideas when asked and prompted – not usurping the abilities of the families with whom they partner.  All to create extra learning environments, safe spaces, and kindred connections to help facilitate educational and personal growth of these kiddos of southeast Canton.

Lighthouse Ministries ended up raising $75,000+ at the Over The Edge event. This money is going to go toward the scholarship program they have created to incentivize their kids who enter the program as 2nd graders and exit as seniors to keep pursuing personal growth through further education and specialty programs.

You can rappel next year too! Ask us how.
